Meet the Cast

JESSICA ROSE BERGER (Mayzie Labird) is so excited to be reprising her Starving Artist Porch portrayal of Mayzie here at NENA Productions. She was last seen at the Algonquin Arts Theatre as Nellie in South Pacific! Favorite credits include Dot in Sunday in the Park with George, Kate Monster in Avenue Q, Maureen Johnson in RENT, Squeaky Fromme in Assassins, Peter Pan in Peter Pan, Connie in Tony and Tina’s Wedding, Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun, and Jo March in Little Women: the musical, for which she won an NJACT Perry Award.  Jessica is on the Educational Faculty at the Count Basie Theatre, runs the Drama Dept. at Brick Memorial High School, and works as a Music Together™ Instructor. She would like to thank Nick, Jeff, Donna, Arnold, and Clarissa for making this a fall to remember! She dedicated this performance to her soon to be fiancée BV, as well as SM and RS.  BREAK LEGS ALL and THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE ARTS!

LORETTA BOYLE (Bird Girl) is thrilled to be making her debut with NENAproductions. Many thanks to Jeff and Nick for this opportunity. Loretta has lived in New Jersey for 10 years now and has spent 5 of those years performing with the Spring Lake Theatre Company. Some of her favorite roles performed there include Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, Abigail Adams in 1776, Lady Thiang in The King and I, Miss Andrew in Mary Poppins and most recently Smitty in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Congrats to this amazingly talented cast.  "Oh the thinks you can think... When you think about Seuss"! Yopp.

AURORA JAI BRUNETTE (Bird Girl/Who) Is thrilled to help take you on a trip to the Vipper of Vipp or to Solla Sellew. She was most recently seen in NENAproductions’ Assassin’s and Once on This Island here at the Jersey Shore Arts Center. Many thanks to NENAProductions for always bringing interesting theatre to the shore. Aurora is blessed to have the support and love of her husband Frank, and the cast of characters that make up our friends and family.

TYLER CICARDO (Horton the Elephantis thrilled to be making his NENAProductions debut! Favorite roles include Benjy Stone in My Favorite Year, Igor in Young Frankenstein, Donkey in Shrek the Musical and Edna Turnblad in Hairspray. Tyler likes Piña Coladas and getting caught in the rain, but that's 'irrelephant'. He would like to thank his family and friends for their continued love and support. 

CARLY COSENTINO (Gertrude Mc Fuzz) is thrilled to be a part of her first NENA production. She was last seen rocking out this past summer as Regina in Rock of Ages with Exit 82 Theatre Company. Other favorite credits include Amy March/Troll (Little Women), The Judge (Legally Blonde) and Betty Haynes (White Christmas), among others. When she is not performing, Carly is a cosmetic chemist, yoga instructor and board member of Exit 82 Theatre Company, based out of Toms River, NJ. Thank you to Nick, Jeff, Donna and Arnold for this awesome opportunity and to her husband Steve! 

SAMANTHA GIUSTINIANI (Bird Girl) - holds an AA from Brookdale, a BFA in Theatre Performance from Kean University and is currently working toward her MA in Shakespeare and Theatre. Some of her past and favorite roles include those on the NENA stage: Once on This Island (TiMoune) and Carrie (Norma), others include: Singin' in the Rain (Kathy Seldon), She Loves Me (Illona), and Romeo & Juliet (Juliet) and Into the Woods (Red Ridinghood). Thank you to Donna for all that she does, and of course Nick and Jeff for your continual support, talents and for having me back!

JOE HAUSVATER (The Cat In The Hat) - is so happy to be a part of one of his favorite shows, with some of his favorite people! Joe was last seen at NENA as John Hinckley, Jr. in Assassins. Other credits include Ton Ton Julian in Once on This Island, The Boatman/Charles Redmond in Sunday In the Park With George, Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha, Miss Lynch in Grease, Paul in A Chorus Line, Jud Fry in Oklahoma, Pete/Cowboy Trio in Crazy For You and Edgar Beane in Titanic to name a few. This one is for Aiden- the cutest thinker of all! 

CHRISTINE JAY (Bird Girl, Mrs. Mayor) is tickled pink to be returning to the NENA stage, after appearing in 2012’s Sunday in the Park with George (Yvonne/Harriette).  Local credits include Mame (Agnes Gooch), A Little Night Music (Petra), and Jesus Christ Superstar (Mary Magdalene) with The Stone Church Players, where she will be directing the upcoming December production Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Radio Play.  She has also been seen in Les Miserables (Featured Ensemble) and Into the Woods (Jack’s Mother) at the Axelrod PAC.  Christine earned a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at Boston’s Emerson College, and lives in Freehold.  As always, much love to Gary and Clover Melody Jay, the home team.

DAVID JORDAN (Mayor/Wickersham)

WILLIAM NAESS (Wickersham/Who) is thrilled to make his NENA debut in Seussical! Favorite credits include Evita (Ensemble), Fiddler on the Roof (Fyedka), We Will Rock You (Commander Khashoggi), and The Drowsy Chaperone (Man in Chair). Willie would like thank not only his friends and family for constantly supporting him but to the wonderful Seussical cast and of course his friend and mentor Jessica Berger. Break a leg!

JENNIFER NELSON (Sour Kangaroo) loves being back on the NENA stage!  With NENA, Jennifer was previously seen in Carrie the Musical (Margaret White), Once on this Island (Asaka), Avenue Q (Lucy), Joseph (Narrator), among others.  She most recently played the role of Justice in Rock of Ages with Exit 82 Theatre Co.  Other credits include Legally Blonde (Paulette), Little Women (Marmee), Annie (Miss Hannigan), Cabaret (Frau Schneider), Nunsense (Sister Robert Ann), Great American Trailer Park Musical (Jeannie), and many, many more!  Jenn would like to extend thanks to Nick, Arnold, Jeff and Donna for always welcoming her back with open arms!

GABRIELLA SCERBO (Bird Girl) is thrilled to be returning to NENAproductions! She was last seen in the Assassins playing Billy/Ensemble and Sunday in the Park with George as Louise. Equity Credits Include: Honk, Teddy and Alice-The Musical and Big-The Musical. Community Theater Credits: West Side Story, Anything Goes, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Diary of Anne Frank, Our Town, A Little Night Music, Wizard of Oz, 25 Years of Phoenix, Joseph…Dream Coat, Celebrate Broadway and Scrooge. She is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and is enrolled in the AEA Candidate Membership program. She has appeared in over a dozen and a half film projects including feature films, award winning shorts and student films. Big hug and kiss to Nick, Arnold, Donna and Jeff, thank you for including me in this super “Think”ish production! Thanks to my family for their endless love and support. And to my fellow cast members/friends old and new………….. break a leg, not a whisker, tail, trunk or wing!

GAVIN SPRINGER, who plays the role of JoJo, is so proud to be part of the cast of Seussical.  Gavin lives in Howell and attends St. Rose Grammar School.  He is in seventh grade and his favorite subject is music. Gavin enjoys singing and has participated and placed in several singing competitions across the state as well as productions like Charlie Brown Christmas and Mary Poppins.
