GODSPELL Live Onstage in Ocean Grove
The Classic Stephen Schwartz Comes to Life in OG
NENAproductions Theater Project, Ocean Grove’s resident theater company proudly presents “Godspell” live, onstage at the Jersey Shore Arts Center just in time for the Easter Season. “Godspell”, written and composed by Stephen Schwartz, composer of Pippin and Wicked, with book by John-Michael Tebelak, is a joyous performance of song and dance based on the parables from the Gospel of Matthew.
The staging of this Broadway favorite marks the final show of the NENA season. The show will run Fridays and Saturdays, March 4 to 12 at 8PM and Sunday, March 13, at 3PM on the mainstage of the Jersey Shore Arts Center, Main Street and Main Avenue in Neptune, at the entrance to Ocean Grove.
“This show seems to be even more timely now than when it was first introduced,” says Nick Montesano, Artistic Director of NENA. Montesano directs and choreographs the show. He says, “Godspell is a favorite of so many because it delivers powerful messages of strength, kindness and forgiveness that need to be reinforced in our lives. It’s a great, high-energy show, at once funny and touching, that will entertain all ages and give them a renewed sense of hope.”
Jeff Brown acts as musical director for the show and also appears as Jesus. Brown is a music teacher with the Wall Township
